Oily skin face mask

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

When preparing an oily skin face mask, your main goal, of course, is to use an ingredient that will remove excess oil. But, you should really pay attention to what you’re using since some of the ingredients used to treat oily skin will not suite every oily skin. If your skin is sensitive in addition to being oily, you might want to go with recipes that contain an egg white for example and avoid the skin getting inflamed. This following recipe contains orange juice that has similar effects as lemon juice; citric acid being the main agent.

Orange Oily Skin Face Mask

Ingredients:

1/2 orange
8 tablespoon of flour

Squeeze orange and mix in flour. Start out by adding 5-6 tablespoons and keep adding more, until you get compact, thick mass. Not too thick, thick enough to be able to spread on the face. Apply and let it rest for 20 minutes and wash off with lots of lukewarm water.

Homemade acne mask

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

This homemade acne mask is actually more of a lotion as it is more liquid than regular face masks but it is highly effective. Two main ingredients here are honey and lemon juice. Honey is a strong anti-inflammatory agent known as a powerful natural cleanser. It prevents possible infections and clears up existing ones. Since the cause of acne (among other things), are clogged pores, honey helps extract the impurities from pores and lemon juice comes in to remove any excess sebaceous oil accumulated on the skin. Lemon juice might sometimes leave the skin dry and that is why there has to be another ingredient to counteract this effect, in this case honey which will prevent possible dryness and nourish the skin leaving it soft and rejuvenated.

To prepare it, you will need:

2 teaspoons of lemon juice
2 teaspoons of honey
7 oz of water

Mix the ingredients. If the mass is too thick, try adding a bit more water. Pour into previously prepared plastic bottle or jar. They have to be clean, so make sure they are washed well. Shake it. Keep in dry and dark place and apply few times a day. Wash off with water.
